The Great American Roadtrip.

It started with a bet that I would never make a pilgrimage to the States to visit the birth places of BonJovi, Bruce Springsteen and Dawson’s Creek. It ended with a 2066 mile road trip fuelled by endless lobster dinners, wings & iced tea. And so the USA edition of WanderSups was born.

Guests were greeted with Spiked Iced Tea - paying homage to the litres of the stuff that was consumed state side, bowls heaving with deep fried pickles - another state side staple - and all the dips you could dream of. Once pleasantries had been exchanged (it’s amazing how quickly bonds are made when fighting over the last deep fried morsel) authentic American fare was served by the bucket load. Shrimp N Grits, BBQ cooked low and slow and the WanderSups infamous diner style pie. Pickle backs were highly encouraged - if you are yet to try one, come to the next USA edition!

All the recipes had been picked up on my trip - either by pleading with chefs or buying pit masters beer after beer and the final menu was a snapshot of the time I spent there.

The evening was accompanied by a killer soundtrack that one moment had us remembering how much we really did love Pacey, to chanting Livin’ on a Prayer the next and crooning Springsteen into the wee hours. Here’s to the next one!!!!
